Professor Debra Jackson AO RN PhD FACN is Professor of Nursing at the Susan Wakil School of Nursing, University of Sydney, Australia. She leads research programs in patient safety, with a particular focus on pressure injury, medication errors and primary care; and workforce development and adversity with a particular focus on leadership, role development and workplace culture. A key objective of her work is to enhance the well-being of vulnerable and socially marginalised groups and through the development of sustainable and culturally sensitive supportive interventions. She is a committed and experienced mentor and supervisor of developing researchers, scholars and leaders. Professor Jackson is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing (Xi Omicron); the International Learning Collaborative; and is Visiting/Adjunct Professor of Nursing at a number of international universities including: The Florence Nightingale School of Nursing, Kings College London, School of Nursing, University of Bournemouth, UK; School of Nursing, Auckland University of Technology, New Zealand. She is also a Key Researcher, Ngangk Yira Research Centre for Aboriginal Health & Social Equity, Murdoch University, Australia. In 2021 she was awarded Professor Emerita at the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS). In 2016, Professor Jackson was named as a Principal Fellow, NIHR Oxford Biomedical Research Centre (BRC/BRU); awarded in recognition of the quality and volume of her internationally excellent research, and outstanding and sustained contribution, to translational clinical research. In 2019 she was awarded Officer of the Order of Australia for distinguished service to medical education, and in 2020 was awarded Fellowship of the Faculty of Nursing, Royal College of Surgeons, Ireland. Professor Jackson is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (UK). Professor Jackson is an experienced writing mentor and coach and has published widely, with over 600 publications including journal articles, books and book chapters. She is Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Advanced Nursing, having previously served on the Journal of Clinical Nursing. She and sits on the Editorial Boards of Journal of Child Health Care, Nursing Inquiry, and Nursing and Health Science. show More
