Shahrzad Bazargan-Hejazi is a Professor of Medical Sociology in the Department of Psychiatry at the College of Medicine, CDU, and UCLA. During her academic career, spanning over 25 years, she has established herself as a trailblazer in research training curriculum development, research education training, research supervision, and research mentoring. As the Vice-Chair of Research in the Psychiatry Department and Director of Research Education in the College of Medicine at CDU, she has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to advancing research endeavors. Her research interest centers around the social aspects of disease, illness, and well-being, with a particular focus on those affected by the burden of substance use and mental health challenges. She also brings a wealth of hands-on and executive editorial experience to scholarly publishing. She is an Associate Editor for the Journal of Injury and Violence Research, as well as, the Health Promotion Perspectives. She is on the Editorial Advisory Board of the International Journal of Student Research, and the Editorial Board of Medicine, BioMed Research International, and POLS One, among the others. She, also, has been a reviewer on the Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH) Global Health Workforce Panel, providing expertise to reviewing fellowship applications for the next generation of Global Health Experts through the Public Health Institute/CDC Global Health Fellowship Program.
