Kovalenko Yuriy Alekseevich, born in 1977. In 2000, Yuriy Alekseevich graduated from the Odessa State Medical University. In 2000-2002, he studied in an internship, and then in 2006-2008 – in clinical residency at the Dnepropetrovsk Medical Academy. In 2002-2005, he worked as an emergency surgeon at the Maloviskovskaya Central District Hospital (Ukraine), in 2006-2008, he worked as a surgeon at the Municipal Clinical Hospital No. 1 in Krivoy Rog (Ukraine). In 2011, Yu.A. Kovalenko successfully defended his thesis for the degree of candidate of science on the topic: "The Choice of a Variant of Liver Resection for Metastases of Colorectal Cancer in the Liver." From 2011 to 2013, he worked as a surgeon at the Department of Liver Transplantation of the N.V. Sklifosovskiy Research Institute for Emergency Medicine. From 2014 to the present, he has been working as a senior researcher at the Oncological Department of Surgical Methods of Treatment (Department of Surgery of the Liver, Bile Ducts and Pancreas). In 2018, he underwent retraining in the specialty "Oncology". In 2019, he successfully defended his doctoral dissertation on the topic: "Surgical Treatment and Prognosis in Patients with Tumours of the Proximal Bile Ducts." Currently, he is the author of more than 110 scientific publications in domestic and foreign journals, as well as the author of 14 invention patents. The area of his scientific research is hepatobiliary surgery and oncology. The area of his scientific interests involves: the development of new methods of personalized surgical treatment in patients with hilar cholangiocarcinoma based on understanding the prognosis and mechanisms of tumour progression; study of morpho-molecular factors of the epithelial-mesenchymal transition, detection of mutations in genes in primary and secondary malignant tumours of the liver and bile ducts in order to select targeted therapy; development of methods for predicting the course of the disease in primary and secondary malignant tumours of the liver and bile ducts. The field of his scientific publications is surgical treatment and assessment of the radicalness of liver resections in patients with hilar cholangiocarcinoma; molecular genetic factors in the surgical treatment of cholangiocarcinomas; trauma and cicatricial strictures of the bile ducts; surgical treatment of liver echinococcosis. show More
