I am an Emergency Physician with a wide experience in the practice of Emergency Medicine and Trauma Care. My primary degrees are first class honours in physiology, and honours in medicine from The Queen's University of Belfast. I completed my training in emergency medicine in Belfast, Northern Ireland; Cambridge, England and Sydney, Australia. I am currently the Clinical Academic Head for the Department of Emergency Medicine, Horizon Health Network, Saint John, NB, Professor with the Faculty of Medicine, Dalhousie University, and Assistant Dean, Research Dalhousie Medicine new Brunswick. I am also Deputy Editor for CJEM. I am involved in the development of the specialty of emergency medicine at local, regional and national levels. My areas of special interest include physiological scoring in trauma and critical illness, emergency pediatrics, clinical decision rules, the use of acute assessment tools including chest pain management pathways, and emergency ultrasound. show More
