REZNIKOV Alexander Grigorievich REZNIKOV Alexander Grigorievich (born 11.12.1939), academician (Full Member) of National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, has been elected on Dec. 28, 2011, subject “Pathophysiology”, Corresponding Member of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (1991), Active Member of New York Academy of Sciences (1993), Doctor of medical sciences (1974), Professor (1984), Distinguished Scientist of Ukraine, awards - the State Scientific Prize of Ukr.SSR (1976), the Bogomolets Award by National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (1983), the V.P.Komisarenko Award by National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (2013), Award for Excellence in Theoretical Medicine by National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine (1996), medals “Scientific Achievements” by the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the V.V.Podvysotskiy’s Medal for Excellence in Pathophysiology by National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and Odessa National Medical University (2007), V.Ya.Danilevsky’s Medal. Head of Laboratory of Neurohormonal Control of Reproduction (1973-1991), Head of Department of Endocrinology of Reproduction and Adaptation, V.P.Komisarenko Institute of Endocrinology and Metabolism by National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine (since 1991). Main areas of research activities: basic problems of endocrine physiology and pathophysiology, neuroendocrinology, reproductive endocrinology, pathogenesis of endocrine and hormone-dependent diseases, endocrine pharmacology. A. Reznikov is one of the founders of functional neuroteratology (sex brain differentiation, prenatal stress syndrome). He justified a new branch of medicine – preventive neuroendocrinology and is known as the author of the concept of hormone-neurotransmitter imprinting of developing brain. He has developed novel modalities of treatment of the endocrine and cancer diseases (drugs: chloditan, niftolid, flutafarm, flutafarm-femina), designs and optimum criteria for preclinical study of antiandrogens, preparations for treatment of obesity, hormonal and neurotropic drugs. A. Reznikov is the author of 595 publications, books and periodicals included (with 108 ones abroad), including 34 monographs (2 in English) and text-books on pathological physiology and endocrinology, 21 inventions and patents. A. Reznikov used to be supervisor of 8 doctoral candidates and 25 PhD students. Visiting Professor at University of Texas (1990), University of Western Ontario and University of Toronto (1995-1996) Professor of National University “Kyiv-Moghyla Academy” (1997-1998). Head of WHO Collaborating Center for Human Reproduction (1975-2000). Chief Researcher, Consultant of State Expert (former Pharmacological) Center by Ukrainian Health Ministry (since 1997). Head of the Ukrainian Commission “Pathological Physiology and Immunology” (1997-2010), Deputy Chairman of the Expert Board (1998-2002) and member of the Scientific and Public Board of the Ukrainian Supreme Qualifying Commission, Deputy Chairman of Scientific Council on Theoretical and Prophylactic Medicine by National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine (2000-2010), Bioethical Committee by Cabinet of Ministers and NAS Presidium (since 2001). Member of the Bureau of NAS Division of Biochemistry, Physiology and Molecular Biology. Honorary Member of International Society of Neuroendocrinology (1999), member of European Society of Endocrinology, Vice-President of Scientific Society of Pathophysiology of Ukraine, the founder and the first Chairman of the Council of Reproductive Medicine Association of Ukraine, member of the Presidium of Endocrine Association of Ukraine.
