Nicholas took up his current position at the University of South Australia in July 2009, and completed a PhD in construction management from the Sheffield Hallam University (U.K) in 2004, investigating the application of TQM within small & medium sized construction related organisations. Prior to his appointment, he was at the Sheffield Hallam University (UK) from 1999 to 2009 where he delivered a range of courses, both at undergraduate and postgraduate. Nicholas also served as the Course Leader for the BSc (Hons) Construction Commercial Management programme within the Built Environment Division and Assistant Program Leader for the MSc in Construction Programme. From March 2005 to September 2005, Nicholas was a Visiting Research Fellow at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) in South Africa conducting research into Construction within the Southern African Built Environment Research Center (SABERC). During that period (1999-2009), Nicholas also taught Project Management Practice at the Postgraduate level. In 2008, he had the privilege of delivering the same course as part of the block week for the University of Pretoria, in South Africa. Nicholas’s research activities are aimed at contributing to a better and sustainable environment through redressing the drawbacks associated with the conceptualisation of sustainability. He has published extensively in the following areas of sustainable construction, risk management, waste management and reverse logistics. Currently, he serves on the International Editorial Board of the International Journal of Project Management, Editorial Board of International Journal of Building Pathology and Adaptation, and recently appointed (December 2018) as the Deputy Editor for the Engineering, Construction and Architectural Management Journal. Nicholas is also a qualified Bridge Engineer, having obtained his MSc in Civil Engineering from Vinnista Polytechnic Institute (then U.S.S.R) in 1988.
