A.F. (Lex) Bouwman is member of the Team Water, Agriculture and Food of the Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency (PBL), formerly National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) and professor at the Department of Earth Sciences – Geochemistry, Faculty of Geosciences, Utrecht University. Obtained his PhD in 1995 at Wageningen University, Netherlands. The main activities include model-based inventories of the delivery of nutrients to streams and rivers from agricultural and natural ecosystems, and effluents from aquaculture and sewerage systems to drive river biogeochemistry models at different scales (river basin to global).
