Currently an Assistant Professor at the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro, and Full Member of the Chemistry Research Center (CQ-VR). Member of the International Society of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering, serving as one of the Portuguese representatives on the International Committees TC307 "Sustainability in Geotechnical Engineering" and TC221 "Tailings and Mine Waste". Received the Bill Curtin Medal from the Institute of Civil Engineers (ICE) in 2012. His research areas are related to the application of industrial waste in geotechnics, with a strong focus on the alkaline activation of such wastes. show More
