Dr Eyad Elkord has currently a position of Professor of Immunology with the Natural & Medical Sciences Research Centre, University of Nizwa, Oman; and an Honorary Professor position with University of Salford, UK. He received his BSc in 1995 from Al-Quds University, an MPhil in 2001 from Bergen University and a PhD in Tumour Immunology in 2005 from University of Wales College of Medicine, Cardiff University. He was a Postdoctoral Scientist (Jan 2005-Dec 2007) at the Paterson Institute for Cancer Research, University of Manchester, and was promoted to a Research Fellow/Group Leader of the Clinical Immunotherapy Laboratory at the University of Manchester (Jan 2008-Nov 2010). He then undertook a Lecturer position with University of Salford (Dec 2010-July 2012) and was promoted in August 2012 to a Senior Lecturer position. He moved to the College of Medicine & Health Science, United Arab Emirates University in 2012 and was an Associate Professor of Immunology until September 2016. He then worked as a Principal Investigator at Qatar Biomedical Research Institute, and a Professor at Hamad Bin Khalifa University, Qatar (July 2016-Nov 2020); and he also had an Honorary Professor position at the Institute of Cancer Sciences-University of Manchester, UK. Dr Elkord is a member of scientific societies including British Society for Immunology, European Academy of Allergology and Clinical Immunology, Immunology Interest Group (National Institutes of Health) and European Macrophage and Dendritic Cell Society. He is the recipient of UAE University Award for Excellence in Scholarship in 2016, and the Dean's annual research prize, College of Science & Technology, University of Salford, UK in 2012. He is an awardee of certificates of achievement for publishing in top journals and bringing recognition to UAE University in 2013, 2014 and 2015. Dr Elkord is an editorial board member for peer-reviewed international journals such as Frontiers in Immunology & Oncology (specialty Cancer Immunity & Immunotherapy), BMC Cancer, Vaccines and Journal of Immunology Research. He is a reviewer to many international journals and well-known funding agents including UK Medical Research Council, Wellcome Trust, European Research Council, Dutch Research Council, Yorkshire Cancer Research, Belgian Foundation against Cancer, Leukemia Lymphoma Research and Breast Cancer Now. He has presented his work at different national and international meetings and conferences. Dr Elkord’s research in the area of immune regulation is well recognized, and he has edited three books for Frontiers in Immunology in 2013, Journal of Immunology Research in 2018 and Seminars in Cancer Biology in 2020. Dr Elkord has more than 120 publications in peer reviewed high-impact international journals with more than 8300 citations and an h-index of 42 and M-index of 2.67.
