Poom Kumam was born in 1978 in Chantaburi, Thailand. He received his B.S. degree in mathematics education from the Burapha University, Chonburi, Thailand, in 2000, M.S. degree (mathematics) from the Chiang Mai University, Thailand, in 2002, under the supervision of Professor Sompong Dhompongsa, and Ph.D. degree (mathematics) from the Naresuan University in 2007 under the supervision of Professor Somyot Plubtieng. His thesis title was: "On random approximation and random fixed point theorems". He is a Full Professor at the Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Science, King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT). In 2008, he received Grant from Franco-Thai Cooperation for short-term research at Laboratoire de Mathématiques, Université de Bretagne Occidentale, France. Furthermore, in 2011, he had an opportunity to take a role as a Visiting Professor at Kyungnam University and Gyeongsang National University, Republic of Korea. In 2012, he took the same role as, Visiting Professor, at the University of Alberta, Canada. Especially, he won two of the most important awards for mathematicians. The first one is the TRF-CHE-Scopus Young Researcher Award in 2010 which is the award given by the corporation from three organizations, Thailand Research Fund (TRF), The Commission of Higher Education (CHE), and Elsevier Publisher (Scopus). The second award was in 2012 when he received the TWAS Prize for Young Scientist in Thailand which is given by The Academy of Sciences for the Developing World TWAS (UNESCO) together with the National Research Council of Thailand. In 2014, the third award is the Fellowship Award for Outstanding Contribution to Mathematics from the International Academy of Physical Science, Allahabad, India. In 2015 Dr. Poom Kumam has been awarded the Thailand Frontier Author Award 2015, Award for an outstanding researcher who has published works and has often been used as a reference or evaluation criteria of the database Web of Science. Recently, Moreover, In 2016 Dr. Poom Kumam has been awarded the 2016 Thailand Frontier Researcher Awards on Innovation Forum: Discovery, Protection, Commercialization By Intellectual Property & Science, and Thomson Reuters. Dr. Poom Kumam has been a Highly Cited Researcher (HCR 2015, 2016, 2017). Moreover, he has been received KMUTT HALL OF FAME 2017, In Honor of the Recipients of Academic Awards, KMUTT Yong Researcher Awards, Excellence in Teaching Awards for 2016. In 2019 he received 2019 CMMSE Prize Winner, for his contributions in the developments of Numerical Methods for Physics, Chemistry, Engineering and Economics from CMMSE Conference held from June 30th to July 6th, 2019, in Rota, Cadiz - Spain. He has also been listed and ranked in the 241th Place in General Mathematics among the Top 2% Scientists in the World 2020 (Published by Stanford University in USA). Professor Dr. Poom Kumam’s locations in the list of the STANFORD UNIVERSITY NAMES WORLD’S TOP 2% SCIENTISTS Out of a total of 17,766 mathematical scientists, Prof. Poom Kumam has been ranked at 138 (Applied Mathematics) and at 197 (General Mathematics) published on 20 October 2021. Also, he has been ranked as the Mathematics Best Scientist in Thailand (Number 1 Mathematician in Thailand) according to the 2021 Alper-Doger Scientific Index (also known as AD Scientific Index). Furthermore, the AD Scientific Index also ranked professor Kumam as the Natural Science Best Scientist in King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi and number 6 in Thailand. He is currently a Full Professor with the Department of Mathematics, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), where he is also the Head of the KMUTT Fixed Point Theory and Applications Research Group and the Theoretical and Computational Science Center (TaCS-Center) and also the Director of the Computational and Applied Science for Smart Innovation Cluster (CLASSIC Research Cluster).
