Prof. Jianping Weng is an internationally renowned expert who has been devoted to the clinical work and scientific researches focusing on diabetes mellitus for over 30 years. During the past decades, Prof. Weng has made tremendous contributions on establishing new therapy and strategy for treatment of diabetes, including: 1) establishing new treatment guidelinesin China for type 2 diabetes;2)establishing standard ofcare for type 2 diabetes in China;3) conducting the phase III clinical trial on empagliflozin as a global co-principle investigator; 4)discovering new therapy for combined type 2 diabetes and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease; 5) conducting frontier epidemiological studies of type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Over the years, Prof. Weng's scientific works well received peer recognition worldwide.
