Prof. Dr. Luigi Mondello is Full Professor of Analytical Chemistry at the Chemical, Biological, Pharmaceutical and Environmental Sciences Department of the University of Messina, Italy. He is the author of about 465 publications (research articles, book chapters, and reviews) and 1072 conference presentations (of which 184 invited/plenary lectures), co-editor of the book “Multidimensional Chromatography” (John Wiley & Sons), co-editor of the book “Citrus oil: Composition, Advanced Analytical Techniques, Contaminants, and Biological Acitivity” (CRC Press - Taylor & Francis Group), editor of the book “Comprehensive Chromatography in Combination with Mass Spectrometry”, (“Wiley-Interscience Series on Mass Spectrometry”), and he has been chairman and invited lecturer in national and international congresses and meetings. Prof. Mondello has been member of the organizing committees of national and international meetings and he is permanent member of the scientific committee of the “International Symposium on Capillary Chromatography” (ISCC), of the “International Symposium on Essential Oils” (ISEO), of the “International Symposium on Hyphenated Techniques in Chromatography and Hyphenated Chromatographic Analyzers” (HTC), of the “Brazilian Symposium on Chromatography and Related Techniques” (SIMCRO), of the “Congresso Latino-Americano de Cromatografia e Técnicas Relacionades” (COLACRO). Prof. Mondello is President of the Steering Committee of the Italian Separation Science Group of the Italian Chemical Society, member of the expert team of “Chromedia” (Chromatography Knowledge Base), member of the “International Committee for Excellence in Food and Nutrition” (University Campus Bio-Medico, Rome, Italy), co-president and co-founder of The Mediterranean Separation Science Foundation Training and Research Center, Editor in Chief of the “Journal of Essential Oil Research” (Taylor & Francis), Editor of Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry (ABC), and Food Analytical Methods (Springer), he has been Editor of Journal of Separation Science (Wiley-VCH), of “Separation Science Plus” (Wiley-VCH) and “Flavour and Fragrance Journal” (John Wiley & Sons), he is member of the Central Technical Committee of the National System for the Accreditation of the Laboratory (ACCREDIA), has been member of the Consultant Committee for Biocides of the Italian Ministry for Health, member of the Technical Committee for the Didactical Coordination of the Degree Course on Human diet and nutrition sciences at the University Campus Bio-Medico in Rome, Italy, member of the Advisory Board of LC-GC Europe, Separation Science, Scientia Chromatographica, The Analytical Scientist, and Mass Spectrometry Reviews, and serves as reviewer for 80 different Journals in the field of Analytical Chemistry and Food Chemistry. In February 2006 (York, U.K.) he was awarded with the “HTC-Award for the most outstanding and innovative work in the field of hyphenated chromatographic techniques”, from the Flemish Chemical Society. In May 2008 (Riva del Garda, Italy) he was awarded from “The Chromatographic Society” with the “Silver Jubilee Medal for his Considerable Contribution to the Development of Separation Sciences”. In October 2008 during the "Congresso Latino-Americano de Cromatografia e Técnicas Relacionades" helded in Florianòpolis, Brasil the "Instituto Internacional de Cromatografia" has assigned to Prof. Luigi Mondello the COLACRO Medal for his contribution to the development and diffusion of the Chromatographic Techniques. In September 2012 during the Analytical Chemistry Division of the Italian Chemical Society Conference in Elba, Italy, he was awarded with the “Liberti Medal”.
