Aziz, Imran  PhD

Senior researcher with 202 publications in the last 27 years
I qualified in Medicine with Honours in 2004 and undertook training in general medicine and gastroenterology until 2016. During this period, I also completed a post-graduate degree at the University of Sheffield, followed by a two-year post-doctoral fellowship in functional gastrointestinal disorders at the Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg, Sweden. In late 2018, I was appointed Senior Clinical Lecturer and Honorary Consultant Gastroenterologist in Sheffield. I have successfully supervised undergraduate BMedSci and post-graduate research students to thesis/viva completion, including publications of original articles in high-impact journals. In view of my international expertise, I am a co-author of the British Society of Gastroenterology guidelines on the management of irritable bowel syndrome and functional dyspepsia. In 2021, I was awarded the United European Gastroenterology Rising Star Award, a prize recognizing promising young clinician-scientists across Europe. I serve on the editorial board of Gastroenterology, a leading international journal in the field of GI diseases. I am also chair of the Rome Partners Group, whose mission statement is to foster an international partnership between the Rome Foundation and early/mid-career Neurogastroenterologists. show More
